Benefits of Serrapeptase for your Supplements

When it comes to supplement manufacture, often times there are a lot of options to choose from. It is not often that a product shows the ability to tackle numerous health-related issues at once, however, and every once in a while a product comes along to change the face of the industry as a whole. Serrapeptase is one such product that has shown a lot of promise, and since its discovery, it has basically skyrocketed in terms of popularity to become a must-have product for supplement manufacturers and vendors alike.

What is Serrapeptase?

Scientifically referred to as Serratiopeptidase, Serrapeptase is what many professionals identify as a proteolytic enzyme. What this means is that it is an enzyme that performs proteolysis, which is the process of breaking down or digestion of protein into smaller units through the process of hydrolysis. This particular quality alone is impressive in itself, but the reason why this enzyme stands out so much is because of its many health benefits that range from cardiovascular health to atherosclerosis treatment. Numerous Serrapeptase weight loss capabilities have also been reported by many users.

Origin and Emergence of Serrapeptase

The origins of Serrapeptase date back to the late 1960s when a group of scientists managed to isolate it from the intestines of silkworms, where it was produced by the microorganism called enterobacterium Serratia sp. E-15. The Serratiopeptidase present in silkworm intestines is what makes it possible for the worm to dissolve its cocoon and emerge from it as a result. While this may have originally been the source of the enzyme, it is now fully possible to manufacture it in laboratories through the process of fermentation thanks to huge advancements in science and technology.

Serrapeptase has been used in the eastern parts of the world for decades, but it made its appearance in the Western market in the early 2000s when nutritional formulator Mr. Robert Redfern heard about it. He introduced it to the world market in much more concentrated doses than were ever previously considered, with astounding positive results. It has since been gaining a critical acclaim from nutritionists and users all over the world for its numerous health benefits to the body.

Health Benefits of Serrapeptase

  1. It reduces swelling or inflammation

As mentioned before, the Serrapeptase enzyme works through the process of breaking down proteins in the body into smaller units. These proteins tend to be very prominent in parts of the body that are inflamed or swollen. On particular protein is cyclooxygenase, which is often responsible for the production of inflammatory units after an injury or an infection.  In this way, it is very effective in reducing inflammation by breaking down the proteins that cause the production of inflammatory units which lead to swelling.

  1. It promotes normal blood clotting

The blood clotting molecule fibrin is often found in dead tissue after an injury, and it is the same molecule that is responsible for the formation of scar tissue. Serrapeptase is able to break down fibrin in the dead tissue without causing any injury to the surrounding healthy tissue in the process. This helps to improve clotting in blood, making Serrapeptase very popular not only in the treatment of injury but also ailments such as Atherosclerosis and heart disease!

  1. It relieves pain

It is common knowledge that inflammation is often times painful. While Serrapeptase is hard at work breaking down the proteins causing this inflammation, it also inhibits the production of amines such as bradykinin which is a peptide that induces pain through enlargement of blood vessels. This enlargement often causes pain as a side effect and Serrapeptase effectively inhibits its production. It is this pain relieving quality that has made this enzyme popular in the management of various painful conditions such as migraines, back pain, osteoporosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.

  1. It can treat infections in ears nose and throat

The very effective combination of Serrapeptase’s anti-inflammatory and pain reducing effects has made it a must have a treatment option for infections in the ears, throat and nose areas. Numerous double-blind studies had patients suffering from chronic cases of ear, nose or throat diseases and the result was always the same after treatment. Most reported significant reductions in their symptoms and in fewer cases there was a complete recession.

  1. It can treat non-cancerous cysts

Serrapeptase digests protein in the body into smaller units but what should be noted the most is the fact that it is often dead tissue that is broken down. This is why it is able to promote proper clotting and scar formation because it breaks down dead tissue. Due to this primary function of digesting or dissolving non-living tissue, it has become very effective in treating cysts in the body that can manifest anywhere as studies have shown.  This extends to conditions such as cystic breast disease or other cysts of various kinds.

  1. It reduces production of Mucus and other excess secretions

Another ability that this enzyme possesses is the capacity to bring down the viscosity of many secretions in the body, making their drainage from the body much faster in the process. This is yet another way that it helps to reduce swelling through the buildup of fluid in the tissues, and it is also another way for it to reduce the production of excessive secretions in the body such as mucus. Excess production of mucus can be a symptom of chronic airway disease which is the blockage of airways preventing breathing, or other lung-related conditions such as cystic fibrosis. The reduced viscosity of these fluids means they can be removed from the body much faster, making the healing process faster as a result.

  1. Other health benefits and Serrapeptase weight loss possibilities
  • While this enzyme can treat cystic breast disease through digestion of the cyst itself, it can also help reduce breast engorgement. This is a condition where the breasts are overfull of milk, and it can be very painful. Serrapeptase has been shown to reduce swelling, pain, and hardness in the breast tissue very effectively in a huge percentage of patients in numerous studies.
  • Studies have also shown Serrapeptase’s ability to complement the activity of antibiotics, making them better able to combat infections. The combination increases the concentration of antibiotics in tissue, enabling them to better penetrate and effectively treat the conditions in question.

In a study of male patients with accessory gland infections, about half of them showed an increase in sperm count from treatment with a combination of Serrapeptase and the antibiotic quinolones. In this case, in particular, this enzyme improves the activity of the antibiotic in fighting the bacteria that causes infections in the accessory glands which may account for the increase in sperm count.

  • There have been numerous mentions about Serrapeptase weight loss benefits, but this is more of a positive side effect rather than a primary health benefit.

Serrapeptase Weight Loss claims

While Serrapeptase is primarily an anti-inflammatory enzyme that also reduces pain in the process, there have been numerous testimonials that point to its ability to help an individual lose a little weight. Numerous users of the product have taken to the forums to describe their experiences in using it to treat their various ailments only to find themselves having dropped a few pounds as well in the process. A correlation seems to exist between use of Serrapeptase and a drop in body weight which can be attributed to a number of factors such as reduced fluid buildup, reduction in the weight of cysts due to their digestion or the overall complete removal of dead tissue accumulated all over the body. It is not clear yet what causes this drop in weight but the fact that it is there at all is definitely a bonus!

While this product is marketed primarily as pain relieving anti-inflammatory, this discovery merely adds to its plethora of health benefits, making it potentially more popular thanks to its ever-growing list of advantages. It makes the enzyme possibly more useful in custom weight loss supplement production, where it can be added not only for its anti-inflammatory effects but also its overall help in the weight loss process.

Why Serrapeptase?

On its own, Serrapeptase is an enzyme with a lot of advantages to bringing to the body in general. All of the health benefits from this one enzyme alone are seen in such few products that it is, in fact, a boon to be able to have it in the supplement production industry at all. As an enzyme, it can prove to be useful in numerous kinds of custom supplements where it can be combined with other ingredients to make a capsule, gel or tablet that truly stands out. It is this unique plethora of uses makes it a very marketable product that stands to gain anyone selling it a substantial amount of profits.

Over the years, it has gained an almost cult following, and for good reason. The enzyme simply has a lot to offer to the people using it compared to hundreds of other supplements out there. So many positive reviews must mean that there is something about it that must not be overlooked. In the world of supplement production, Serrapeptase may very well be the symbolic equivalent of a gem in a sea of ordinary supplements.
